Traditions

Traditions are the threads that connect people to each other--or to other things. They are not the same ol' same ol'. Traditions become the touch points in one's year or month or life. They are the place we can look back to with laughter or warmth or angst, depending.

Last Saturday, a friend and I carried on one of our summer traditions. We went to a drive-in movie, this year seeing "The Fantastic Four."

Now, a drive-in is not for every movie. The gravel expanse isn't for the likes of "Schindler's List" and such. It is, though, perfect for flicks such as "Herbie" or "The Fantastic Four," or "Dr. Dolittle." It's also perfect to watch the audience collect, bringing in their dogs, kids, and cigarettes. The movie is only half the fun, which is all the more reason to do it again the next year.

It was a good drive-in-movie movie. Had I been in a cushy theater, with surround sound and no dogs nearby, I would have somewhat irked.
